What Is Hemp Wick?

Hemp wick is a strand of hemp fiber coated with beeswax. The end is lit with a lighter or match, creating a small flame that can be moved around the edge of a packed bowl or used to ignite other combustible smoking material.

Hemp wick does not replace the high-heat source required for a quartz banger or traditional dab nail. For those applications, use an appropriate butane torch or electric heating device.

Original vs Thick Hemp Wick

Wick thickness changes the size of the flame. Bee Line offers both versions, so you can choose based on how much flame and precision you prefer at the bowl.

How to Use Hemp Wick With a Bong or Pipe

  1. 1

    Unwind the Wick

    Light the Tip

Use a lighter or match to ignite the end and establish a small flame.

  3. 3

    Light the Bowl

While drawing through your bong or pipe, guide the wick flame to the part of the packed bowl you want to ignite.

  4. 4

    Extinguish It Completely

Shake out the flame or press the lit tip against a nonflammable surface. Make sure both the flame and glowing ember are fully out before setting it down.

Hemp Wick FAQ

What is hemp wick made from?

Hemp wick is generally made from hemp fiber coated in beeswax. The Bee Line products carried by Aqua Lab use hemp fiber and beeswax and are available in Original and Thick versions.

How do you use hemp wick with a bong?

Light the end of the wick with a lighter or match, then bring the wick flame to the edge of the packed bowl while drawing through the bong. Fully extinguish the wick after the bowl is lit.

What is the difference between Original and Thick hemp wick?

Original uses a thinner strand and produces a smaller flame. Thick uses a larger strand and produces a larger flame. The best choice depends on how much flame and precision you prefer.

How do you extinguish hemp wick?

Shake out the flame or press the lit tip against a nonflammable surface, then confirm the glowing ember is completely out before setting the wick down or storing it.

How long does a 200ft spool of hemp wick last?

There is no fixed number of uses. How long a spool lasts depends on how much wick you use per light and how often you use it. A 200ft spool is the bulk format for regular users.

Can hemp wick be used to heat a dab banger or nail?

No. Hemp wick can ignite combustible material in a bowl, but it does not produce the sustained high heat needed to bring a quartz banger or traditional dab nail to dabbing temperature.
