Rob Morrison, a glass artist based in Eugene, Oregon, has been crafting unique and stunning glass pieces since his early days in 1995. After studying biochemistry in Pennsylvania, Rob's journey into glass art began with a chance meeting at the Oregon Country Fair. Inspired by a conversation with a marble marker, he discovered Wale Apparatus, a scientific supply company that sold lamp working kits. Eager to explore this new medium, Rob ordered a torch kit and began his artistic journey.
After a successful start creating glass pipes, Rob took a break for eight years before returning to glass art in 2008. He was amazed by the growth of the glass art community and the wealth of knowledge available. Rob decided to expand his skills by taking classes and focusing on creating marbles. It was in 2010 that a significant encounter with glass art legend Paul Stankard sparked a new phase of creativity for Rob. Stankard challenged him to "express an idea in glass," leading Rob to spend seven months learning sculpting techniques and bringing his first sculpture, a glass diorama of Prometheus Bound, to life.
Driven by his passion for artistic expression, Rob furthered his artistic education by taking classes in 3D sculpture, figure drawing, and art history at a local community college. In the summer of 2012, he embarked on creating muppet functionals, drawing inspiration from Jim Henson's iconic characters. The popularity of the muppets played a significant role in the recognition and success Rob achieved with his glass creations. He takes pride in translating these beloved characters into glass for people to enjoy.
In 2017, Rob's creativity led him to explore sculpting farm animals, embracing the freedom to design unique pieces that celebrate individuality rather than conforming to muppet guidelines. The possibilities of colors, shapes, and stories he can tell with these animals are limitless and liberating.
Rob Morrison Glass specializes in sculpted vapor globes, dab rigs, and bongs, each piece a testament to his artistic vision and craftsmanship. Beyond his artistic endeavors, Rob proudly welcomed his greatest creation yet in 2020 when he became a father.
Rob's artistic journey is marked by growth, exploration, and a passion for pushing the boundaries of glass art. His dedication to his craft and the limitless possibilities it offers continue to inspire both himself and those who appreciate his remarkable creations.
